Beautiful Neighborhood Initiative
Help us bring shade, beauty, and joy to your neighborhood!
At Lukas Nursery, our mission is to connect people to nature. This Arbor Day, we’re bringing that mission to life by planting beauty where it matters most, our public schools!
The youth of our community will be next in line to become stewards of nature. That is why we chose the Tabebuia tree, known for its resilience, and it's fantastic display of colorful blooms that occur every spring. We believe the 'awe' that this tree inspires will spark curiosity and a connection to nature.
We haven't even gotten to the best part... you get to help! For every Tabebuia tree purchased from now until Arbor Day, one will be donated to a local Seminole or Orange County Public School.
Our goal is to plant at least 50 trees across our community, and we’ll be sharing updates along the way as we grow something beautiful, together!
If you have been considering a shade or flowering tree for your yard, consider a Tabebuia. Applications for donations are now closed.
Did you know?
- Similar to cherry blossoms, tabebuia trees will lose their leaves before blooming! This means a bright, colorful bouquet of flowers in the spring, lush green leaves in the summer, and an open, deciduous look in the winter.
- Pollinators LOVE the trumpet-like flowers of the tabebuia tree. You will often find butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees having the time of their life in these flowers.
- Tabebuia trees stay relatively small, maxing out at about 25-30ft tall. This makes them perfect for residential landscapes!
- Why are tabebuia trees so common in Florida? Easy! These trees are drought tolerant, heat tolerant, cold hardy, and mature tabebuia trees are known for their hard wood which makes them relatively resilient in hurricanes.
- The Tabebuia is considered to be a symbol of renewal. Their sudden and intense flowering is often seen as a symbol of hope, joy, and the start of a new season.
