Groundbreaking Developments Begin This Fall to Further the Mission of “Getting People Back to Nature”

Oviedo, FL – September 18, 2025 - Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter is thrilled to share news of upcoming enhancements that will deepen our commitment to inspiring and connecting people with the wonders of nature. Starting this Fall, we will begin construction on two innovative projects: a state-of-the-art Butterfly Encounter and a Learning Center, setting the stage for new opportunities where nature, education, and community unite.

Preserve & Enhance Our Current Offerings: Our Mission Grows Stronger

Lukas Nursery remains dedicated to stewarding its long-standing mission and preserving the multi-generational legacy of the Lukas Family. “These projects are not about closing doors. They are about keeping doors open for the community,” said Caleb Lukas, part of the Lukas Family’s 4^th Generation. “We are building the next chapter of Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter, one that will not only preserve the legacy but enhance our mission of connecting people with nature through inspiration, education, and service.” Our existing Butterfly Encounter and learning spaces will continue to operate throughout construction, welcoming guests to enjoy nature through the unique hands-on experiences provided every day.

Building for Tomorrow: New Butterfly Encounter & Learning Center

This Fall marks the beginning of a multi-phased transformation designed to proactively adapt to Seminole County’s upcoming "Slavia Road Widening" Project. By reimagining our site layout, Lukas Nursery is committed to ensuring an exceptional customer experience for years to come.

• Butterfly Encounter: The new facility will continue to support butterfly populations through its butterfly farming activities. In addition, it will be a haven of color, movement, and life, to provide an inspiring, interactive exhibit where guests can immerse themselves in the beauty and science of butterflies and pollinator gardens like never before.
• Learning Center: Our new hub for education will offer engaging workshops, inspiring talks, and hands-on programs for all ages, amplifying our commitment to service and community enrichment.

Continuous Inspiration & Service: What to Expect

Throughout construction, visitors can continue to explore our existing Butterfly Encounter and participate in educational activities. Our team is dedicated to ensuring seamless operations and a welcoming atmosphere while our new spaces take shape. These initial buildings represent only the beginning. It will be the first phase in a thoughtful, long-term plan to enhance our offerings for our community and natural surroundings.

A Vision for Generations

With these exciting developments, Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter is reaffirming its deep-rooted commitment to inspiring wonder, fostering learning, and serving families and nature enthusiasts from near and far. The enhancements are designed not only to preserve but to elevate the unique experiences our guests cherish, even as we anticipate and adapt to the evolving needs of our region.
