We want you to be successful!
Great plants start with great care, and at Lukas Nursery, we want you to find success in your gardening endeavors. Below you can find instructions and plant care tips for all stages of your gardening journey. Watch our video below on How to Plant a Plant to get started!
Proper Fertilization Schedule
When planting your plant, you should add Start-N-Grow to the planting hole. If your plant was planted by our Delivery & Install team, they did this for you when installing your new landscape.
When you are finished planting, apply Root Stimulator for quick nourishment and rapid root growth.
Lukas 4-in-1 Fertilizer should be added 2 or 3 times a year for ongoing plant health. Once in Fall, once at the start of Spring with a proper prune (typically the last week of February), and in Summer.
Watering Your New Plants
Most plants should be watered 2-3 times a week with a good soak until the plant is established, which is usually around the 6-8 week mark.
Avoid creating a soggy environment, which will drown the plant. You can test if the soil is dry by sticking your finger into the soil, and if your finger comes out dry then it likely needs to be watered.
Keep an eye on the soil in the summer months, as plants typically will need more water in the heat.
